Our cut flower garden is back and better than ever!
With over 40 different varieties of florals and foliage to choose from, we are filled with pride and excitement to say this is our garden’s best year yet, and are overjoyed to once again be offering this opportunity! With such a wide variety to choose from, we know the process can be overwhelming for those who may not be familiar with our gardens and how to make their own bouquet.
That’s why we’ve asked our greenhouse expert, Henry, for some tips and tricks on how to successfully cut, create, and care for your very own bouquet:
- Know where you’re going to place the bouquet in your home. Depending on where you want it, this will affect the size and stem length of your floral bunch.
- If you’re planning on placing it on your dining room table, you’ll want a bigger bunch and lengthier stems. If you’re going to place it on a side table, then you’ll want a smaller bunch with shorter stems.
- Think about the kind of color scheme you want before picking.
- I find the best bouquets come from when I have colors pre-selected in my head, and then see what the garden has to offer. It just kind of narrows down the selection and helps fit the vibe you’re going for.
- To make the bouquet last longer, we suggest putting your cut flowers in water as soon as possible.
- Once you leave, we will give you a damp paper towel and plastic bag to keep them hydrated on your way home, but it is crucial to get them into a vase with cool water ASAP.
- Please be sure this is the last thing you do before leaving Crazy Daisies. Do not make your bouquet and then stroll the greenhouses and order a bite to eat, this will cause the flowers to dehydrate and wilt, decreasing their longevity.
- Be sure to pluck leaves and greenery off stems if they are not contributing to your desired look, as the plant will try and rehydrate them and take away from caring for the actual flower.
- Replace the water 1-2 times throughout the week, you can even put a small amount of bleach in the vase to keep the water from turning green.
- It is normal for your flowers to be slightly wilted once bringing them home. If cared for properly, they should bounce back and rehydrate within 24 hours.
- As the week goes on, you can take out single flowers that begin to die instead of throwing out your whole bouquet.
This year we have three vase size options.
- Mini But Mighty – $7
- Main Character – $15
- Show Stopper – $25
The you pick garden will be available for picking until mid-September. Come on by, pick your vase size, pay, grab a pair of clippers, and then head to the garden to start picking. We are happy to bring back our Bouquet Making Workshops and adding a Flower Crown Workshop to the mix too.
As we continue to nurture and expand our cut flower garden, we are excited to share the beauty and joy our garden brings to our crazy community! So, whether you’re looking for the perfect bouquet or just want to stroll through the garden and soak in the colors and scents, we invite you to come and enjoy our dreamy garden oasis!
