Team Lead – BOH

Job Title: Team Lead – Back of House
Department: Garden Café – Back of House
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Reports to: Back of House & General Manager

Job Summary: This position is responsible for managing back of house staff, scheduling, inventory, prep work, line work, and ensuring a positive, efficient workplace. This position also ensures the kitchen area is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

• Maintain food safety and quality control standards
• Fostering a safe, positive,and efficient work environment with clear communication with other managers/team leaders
• Create and edit the schedule as needed.
• Track BOH inventory, and un pack orders as they arrive accordingly
• Ensure that the BOH is kept clean and organized, well stocked.
• Performance management (see below)
• Managing BOH team issues, refer to Human Resource Contact if assistance is needed.
• Train replacement

Supervisory Responsibilities: include training in work methods; assigning work; planning and scheduling work; checking and approving work; conducting performance evaluations, consulting with BOH Manager, HR, COO, CEO, and any other managers.

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Some experience in a supervisor role preferred, not necessary
• Experience working as a prep cook in a fast-paced environment
• Strong multitasking and organizational skills
• Good understanding of ingredients, recipes, kitchen safety, and hygiene
• Knowledge of food safety and applicable health department regulations
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently
• Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Physically able to stand and move around for long periods of time
• Available during the week & weekend
• Seasonal position, April – December

Physical, Mental and Visual Demand:

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand for long periods of time, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive hand motion, finger, grasp, handle, feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, kneel, crawl, bend.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
• Light mental and visual application is required for performing work where there is some variety, but actions taken and decisions made are limited to a few possibilities. Work requires some coordination with others. Setting-up, regulating, and adjusting simple machines or processes.

Environmental Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that may be encountered while performing the essential functions of this position.

The employee is subject to inside and/or outside environmental conditions to include: extreme heat defined as temperatures above 90 Degrees Fahrenheit for periods of more than one hour.
